My Journey with Reiki Healing

From a young age, my relationship with wellness has been a winding path of questions, discoveries, and ultimately, lots of healing. As a child, I was often unwell. Fevers, colds, and an overarching sense of discomfort seemed to visit me regularly, and no matter how many doctors' appointments I attended, there were never any clear answers as to why. I now understand that some of this stemmed from diet and lifestyle factors, but at the time, it left me and my family feeling powerless.

However, there was one thing that seemed to bring relief during those times: energy healing. I had an out of town relative who practiced energy healing techniques and would occasionally work with me when I wasn’t feeling well. Looking back, I didn’t understand what they were doing, but it had this incredible way of helping me recover. Whether it was from a fever or just that general "lousy" feeling, these sessions left me feeling lighter, stronger, and more balanced. I didn’t know it then, but those early experiences planted the seeds for my lifelong journey into the world of Reiki and energy healing.

Fast forward to 2020, when everything in the world felt chaotic, uncertain, and overwhelming. I had just begun my yoga teacher training, and one of my instructors introduced us to the concept of Reiki healing. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head. I was immediately drawn to it, remembering those energy healing experiences from my childhood and how powerful they were.

Curious to learn more, I began attending Reiki sessions at least once a month. To say the practice had a profound impact on me would be an understatement. As I continued these sessions, I felt my physical, emotional, and mental health start to transform in ways I hadn’t thought possible. The chronic tension I carried in my body started to soften, and long-held emotions that I had buried for years began to surface—allowing me to acknowledge, release, and heal them. I paired these Reiki sessions with sound healing, and together they created a harmonious experience that brought me clarity and peace. I finally felt as though I was aligning my mind, body, and spirit in ways I hadn’t realized I needed.

One of the most powerful aspects of Reiki was its ability to help me address not just the surface-level "symptoms" but the root causes of so much of what had been weighing me down—energetically, emotionally, and spiritually. I realized that I had been holding onto years of stagnant energy that needed to move. Reiki became the gentle yet powerful tool that helped facilitate this energetic flow. (I don’t love the word "blockages," but that’s essentially what Reiki helped me clear—stuck energy that needed to be released for healing to truly occur).

As I continued to experience the benefits of Reiki firsthand, I felt compelled to learn how to practice it myself—not for anyone else initially, but for my own self-healing. When I signed up for Reiki Level 1 training, I wasn’t thinking about starting a business or sharing this with others. I simply wanted to deepen my own healing journey. During that first training, I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of connection—to myself, to the universe, and to the life force energy that we all share.

After my first several attunements in Level 1, I immediately began practicing Reiki on my cats, my dog, and the people close to me. Every time I practiced, I felt a deepened connection to this beautiful energy. It was as though I was learning an entirely new language—one that transcended words and instead spoke through the heart, the soul, and the body. It opened my eyes to how much energy influences our lives, often in ways we don’t consciously recognize.

As I moved forward to Level 2 Reiki, everything shifted. I realized that this wasn’t just a practice I wanted to keep to myself—I felt called to share it with others. I started offering in-person and distance Reiki sessions, and the feedback I received was nothing short of incredible. Seeing how Reiki helped my clients find clarity, peace, and relief reinforced my love for this work. Each attunement during my training deepened my connection to the universal life force energy that is Reiki, and I knew I had found something I was meant to do.

Becoming a Reiki Master Teacher was a natural progression on this journey. It’s been four years now since I began practicing, and I still feel that same awe and gratitude for this practice as I did during my first session. Reiki has not only helped me heal on every level, but it has also given me a purpose—to hold space for others to do the same. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing someone experience a breakthrough, release what no longer serves them, and reconnect with their true self during a session.

I know that for those who haven’t experienced Reiki, it might seem like a foreign or even misunderstood concept. But for me—and so many others I’ve worked with—it’s been a life-changing practice that continues to reveal its depth and beauty every single day. Reiki has helped me shed old patterns, connect with my body in ways I never had before, and embrace the spiritual aspects of life that I once overlooked.

It’s an honor to now share this practice with others, whether it’s through 1:1 sessions, teaching, or simply answering questions about what Reiki is and how it works. This work has taught me that healing isn’t just about fixing what’s “wrong”—it’s about coming home to yourself, understanding your energy, and finding alignment with your own unique rhythm.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you. It’s one I am deeply grateful for, and I look forward to continuing to grow and share the gift of Reiki with those who feel called to explore it.

Peace & power to you
💜 Liz
