How I Prepare for Group Healing Events
Hosting a group healing event is a deeply fulfilling experience, but it requires careful preparation to ensure that I can hold space effectively for everyone attending. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how I prepare to create a meaningful and relaxing environment for my guests:
1. Blocking My Schedule for the Day
The energy I bring to an event is just as important as the instruments or techniques I use. That’s why I intentionally block my schedule for the entire day of a group healing event. This allows me to preserve my energy, avoid feeling rushed, and fully focus on setting the tone for the experience. Whether it’s through meditation, grounding practices, or simply taking time to relax beforehand, I ensure I’m in the right headspace to hold space for others.
2. Packing and Transporting Instruments
Since I also work with clients in my home studio, all my instruments are typically set up in my healing room. Preparing for a group event means carefully packing everything into their respective cases to ensure they are safe during transport. Each instrument, from singing bowls to chimes, has its own delicate nature, so handling them with care is essential.
Once everything is packed, I load my car the day of the event. This step requires intentionality because I need to make sure nothing is forgotten and that everything is positioned securely for the drive. After arriving at the venue, I unload all the instruments, double-check that everything has arrived in good condition, and begin setting up the space.
3. Setting Up the Space
Creating an immersive and comfortable environment for guests is a top priority. I always plan to arrive well before the event starts to ensure there’s enough time to set up without feeling rushed. This includes:
Arranging my instruments for easy access and optimal sound resonance.
Ensuring the seating or lying area is welcoming, with enough space for everyone to feel comfortable.
Moving any furniture or items in the venue that may obstruct the flow or comfort of the session.
4. Cleansing the Space
A clean, energetically aligned space is vital for a group healing event. After physically arranging the room, I take time to cleanse the space energetically. Depending on the needs of the location, this may include:
Smudging with sage or palo santo to clear any stagnant energy.
Using sound tools, like a bell or chime, to reset the energy in the room.
Setting a clear intention for the space, such as safety, healing, and relaxation.
This step helps ensure that the environment feels welcoming and supportive for everyone attending.
5. Personal Preparation
Holding space for others can be energetically demanding, so I make sure I’m personally prepared as well. This includes:
Eating a light, nourishing meal ahead of time to keep my energy steady.
Wearing comfortable clothing that allows me to move freely.
Taking time to center myself with a short meditation, breathwork practice, or hapé.
These practices help me feel grounded and ready to guide others through their healing journey.
6. Final Details Before Guests Arrive
Before the event begins, I do one final walkthrough of the space to ensure everything is ready. I might adjust the lighting to create a calming ambiance, set up any necessary sound equipment, and place blankets, pillows, or other comfort items where guests will be seated or lying down. I also ensure there’s water available for myself and attendees, as hydration is an important part of the healing process.
Finally, I check in with myself one last time to make sure I’m feeling balanced and calm before welcoming guests.
Creating a Space for Healing
While the logistics of preparing for a group healing event can be time-consuming, each step is done with the intention of creating a supportive and restorative space for attendees. The care I put into these preparations reflects my deep commitment to helping others feel relaxed, seen, and cared for during their healing journey.
Hosting these events is more than just a practice; it’s a privilege. Seeing the impact that these moments have on people makes all the preparation worth it.
Peace & power to you
